Textile has long become an expressive material in contemporary art. The exhibition Textile & Structure at the NÖDok for Modern Art in St. Pölten shows the versatility of textiles in the visual arts. Performance, video, installation – but also mural, tapestry and screen printing demonstrate how artists use textiles to make messages visible. The range extends from pioneers of the 1960s to newcomers of the 2020s. Textile techniques are indispensable in contemporary art.
